Greetings, Crofton Village Swim Team families!

Welcome to the 2024 swim season! It feels like summer and swim team will begin in a few short weeks!! We are so excited for another fun season of early Saturday meets, fast swims, big improvements, breakfast sandwiches, and lots of memories!

Here’s what ‘we’ means this year:

• The Dolphins will be managed again by Robyn Cohen, who will coordinate logistics, volunteers and anything related to money. Email me at [email protected]
• Again this year, Rob Wittig, will be our Team Rep, in charge of running the meets at the table, scoring, and generally keeping us out of trouble with the meet officials.
• We are very excited that Coach Donna Helms will be our Head Coach. All things swim-related should be directed to her at: [email protected].
• Maddie Hamilton will be returning as an Assistant Coach and we are excited to welcome Eliana Miller as our other Assistant Coach. Junior coaches this year will be Lucy Skippen and Violet Brown.
• We can't wait for Laura Jarvis to take over for the Dolphin Diner!!

Registration

Registration is open!!!! We will continue to use SwimTopia this year.

When you visit the website to register (www.croftonvillagedolphins.com), click the Login button, enter the email address you’re using to read this message, and click ‘Forgot password.’ You’ll get a password reset email. Once you log in, you should see your Dolphins’ information pre-populated in the registration form.

TIP for separated, divorced, or blended families: SwimTopia allows multiple logins for family members. If your family situation includes stepparents or other extended family members who aren’t currently listed and would like to be added, email Robyn ([email protected]) for assistance.

Registration fees –

*Each swimmer will receive a t-shirt and a swim cap!!

Paying by cash- First swimmer- $143, Second swimmer- $133, Each additional swimmer- $123

If you are paying by Paypal, there will be an extra $3 fee per swimmer!

Paying by Paypal- First child- $146, Second swimmer- $136, Third Swimmer- $126

Swim team cannot run without volunteers! There will be a $25 discount for families willing to work shifts during the season (more to come on volunteer jobs!). New, this year, a $25 deposit check will be required and will only be cashed if the volunteer requirements are not adequately met at the end of the season.

Registration deadline is June 1 at 6:00 p.m. For the volunteer discount, you’ll enter the coupon code VOL24 at checkout.

New this year!!!

Only NEW swimmers who have never been on the Crofton Dolphins swimmers need to try out this summer! Swimmers who swam in the half moon last summer will begin practice in the half moon and will be evaluated if they should switch to the big lanes!

Don't worry -- everyone makes the team as long as they can swim the required lap(s) independently. Try-out is 25 meters for swimmers ages 8 and under and 50 meters for ages 9 and over. All swimmers must swim from point A to point B any way they can without touching the ground, wall, or lane line.

As required by Central Maryland Swim League rules, all swimmers and their families must have a household membership in the Crofton Village Pool and Recreation Association (CVPRA). Children who are registered to swim at the pool through a daycare provider or other extended family member are not eligible for the team. If you are not a resident of a community with automatic membership through your homeowners' association, please visit the CVPRA website to purchase your 2024 seasonal membership before you register for the team.

We have a new team suit this year, the Speedo Disco Boom- and it will be used for this summer and next summer! We are working with Cy's Swimwear in Catonsville. They will be at Nantucket Pool on Saturday, June 1 from 10:00-12:00 and again on June 4 from 5:00-7:00 for swim suit fittings and to purchase the suit. Cy's will also be bringing other swim items for purchase.  Please see attached images of the new team suit!

• May 15th at 7:30 - Parent Meeting- the first half of the meeting will be for all parents and the second half will be for NEW parents! Zoom link: We will be provided soon

• Thursday, May 30th, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.: Tryouts (only for new swimmers!! Half moon swimmers from last year do not have to come to a tryout)
• Saturday, June 1, 10:00 – 12:00 p.m.: swimsuit fittings, ask any questions about the season.
• Saturday, June 1, 6:00 p.m.: Registration deadline.
• Tuesday, June 4, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.: swimsuit fittings, ask any questions about the season.

While School is still in session:

• Tuesday June 4, Thursday June 6 - Last names A thru M
• Wednesday June 5, Monday June 10 - Last names N thru Z
• Monday, June 17 - Friday, July 19: Morning practices, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Evening practices will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 starting June 18 for team members with scheduling conflicts only.
• Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26: Morning practices, Divisionals and Straehle Invitational swimmers only
• No practice- July 4th!

• Monday, July 22: Cameron Diamond Invitational (for swimmers not participating in Divisionals)
• Wednesday, July 24: Straehle Invitational - Andover Swim Club (Linthicum Heights, MD)
• Saturday, July 27: Divisional Championships at Nottingham

And the Season Finale …

• Saturday, July 27, 5:00 p.m.: End-of-season celebration and awards.

Oh, and PS: You will see a preview of the team t-shirt (a huge thank you to Dolphin Levi Weaver for designing it). Each team member receives a free team t-shirt. If you want to order extras for parents or non-Dolphin siblings, you can do so as part of registration.
