Just a lot of stuff....

Hello from Dolphin Headquarters!!!

Congratulations to everyone who swam last Saturday at our in-house meet!  A great start to the season!!  Kudos to all of our swimmers (and parents!) who braved the rain and cold and came to practice this morning!!

TGIAF (Thank goodness it is almost Friday!!) Friday's are a big deal for the Crofton Dolphins!  After Friday morning practice, we celebrate the swimmers' hard work all week with Fun Friday each week!!!

What is Fun Friday?

For new families, Fun Friday rewards team members for working hard at practice all week. Practice itself is shorter, and the rest of the hour is spent swimming fun relays or playing water games. The highlight for the swimmers is the potluck-style snack buffet that awaits them at the end. Families are asked to contribute a snack to share. If you look on the Team Event calendar, you will see Fun Friday entries, and that they have job signups attached to them. We need a couple of parent volunteers at each practice to assist with serving the food, and with crowd control. We also have a couple of signup slots for sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and drinks.  There will also be markers and posterboard for swimmers to make signs for their buddies/friends to bring to the meet.

Buddies

If you have not received your buddy yet, please email me- buddies should cheer for their buddy at away meets and bring a treat bag and cheer for them at home meets too! Treat bags are only for the two July home meets!

Rock n roll Relay meet- Crofton Country Club

This is a charity meet on Monday, June 26th at Crofton Country Club benefiting the John Hopkins pediatric cancer unit.  The meet registration is closed. For those that registered, the entry fee for each swimmer is $20. We must have this money by Monday morning or your child cannot swim. We can only accept cash. I will be collecting money at the practices on Friday and Monday. You can also drop the money off at my house, if that is easier. (913 Briggsdale Court, Gambrills). Please be sure to put the $20 cash in an envelope with your child’s name on it. Please email with any questions.

Weather

It looks like there is a lot of rain chances in the forecast. Reminder- we will still practice in the rain UNLESS it is raining so hard that we cannot see the bottom of the pool. If that is the case, practice will be canceled (or stopped if it is during practice).

Saturday's Swim Meet

This Saturday is our first away meet!! We are lucky that it is a close one- in Severna Park! The Crofton Village Dolphins are swimming the Shipley Choice Dolphins!! All. The. Dolphins! BE SURE TO RSVP FOR THE MEET BY TONIGHT!!! The pool address is 947 Rustling Oaks Drive in Millersville, MD 21108. The pool is located in Shipley's Choice, just minutes from Exit 10 off I-97. Even though it is an away meet, our team still needs to provide volunteers. We are still looking for a few timers and someone to help with clerk of course! (remember the volunteer discount you took…. 😊 )  Same story for meets as practice- we will swim in the rain as long as the bottom of the pool can be seen.  If it storms, we will wait it out and follow the Official's direction.  Fingers crossed we can get the meet in on Saturday...

Shipley’s Choice Meet Logistics:

- Please park in our pool parking lot, which we reserve for our visiting teams. You will see lots of our cars parked on the street near the pool, but please proceed into the pool parking lot for your convenience. There should be plenty of room.

- We have large, installed sunshades that cover the seating areas for both teams, so you probably do not need tents or shades. Extra chairs might be useful.

- Our Dolphins concession stand will be open with lots of good food and drink, and it is marked on the attached map. We plan to have doughnuts, bagels, Chick-Fil-A, and Taco in a Bag. We will also be selling water, but we are encouraging everyone to bring lots b/c of the expected heat.

- Our Pool Board has asked to keep ALL swimmers and families on the Upper Pool Deck only. We will ensure plenty of deck space is available around the meet pool. The wading pools and the "mushroom pool" one level below the lap pool will NOT be open or guarded at the start of the meet, so please ensure swimmers and their siblings do not try to swim. The Pool Board does open the lower pool for our members at 11am, but again, no one attending the meet from either team will use that pool.

Congratulations for still reading this long email....please email with any questions!

Let's go Dolphins...beat those other Dolphins!!

Many thanks,

Robyn Cohen
