Signing Up for Meets and Jobs

One of the most important tasks of the season is signing your Dolphin up for the meets they'll be attending (and selecting your volunteer shifts). The video below shows you how to do it two ways: Using your computer and using the SwimTopia mobile app.

More about volunteering

Our meets can't run without parent volunteers, so we definitely need all hands on the pool deck on Saturdays. If you aren't sure which job might be the right fit for you, here are a few ideas:

If you like to be in the middle of the action:

  • Timers have the swim equivalent of a front-row seat. You'll see all the action. Operating a stopwatch is easy, and you'll get a feel for how the meets operate.

If you like shade:

  • Table workers help process meet results and sort ribbons, all of which is done under the pavilion.
  • The snack bar has a couple of new, larger shade canopies, and the added bonus of proximity to Taco in a Bag.

If you like to be on the move:

  • Card runners collect results from timers and take them to the pavilion area.
  • Ribbon distributors give a heat winner ribbon to the first swimmer to finish every heat (bonus: the kids are always happy to see you).

If you like to talk:

  • The announcer emcees the meet. Sense of humor is a major plus.

If you like telling people where to go ...

  • Clerk of Course gets swimmers into position for their races.

... or what to do

Stroke and Turn judges make sure all participants swim their strokes correctly. This job requires an online training class (paid for by the team, and done in less than two hours). Love of swimming is a plus. If this is something you want to know more about, email us.

More thorough job descriptions are available in the Volunteer tab.
